Audra McDonald's talent is unparalleled in her range of talents and variety in her roles as a performer, singer and actor. In 2015, she was awarded an unprecedented six Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. Her name was also cited in Time magazine among the 100 most influential people and was given the National Medal of Arts - the most prestigious honor in America for artistic achievement - from President Barack Obama. McDonald was first introduced to the TV audience as a dramatic actress by Peabody Award winning CBS's Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters first 100 years. Following her appearance with Kathy Bates, Victor Garber and others in the famous Disney/ABC version of Annie in 1999, McDonald appeared as been a regular character on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit. The following year, she received the first Emmy nomination for her performance in the HBO film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit directed by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned on television network in 2003 in the political drama Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and starring Josh Brolin. The Bedford Diaries, a WB television show that premiered in 2006. Then she had a recurring part on NBC's Kidnapped during the following year. McDonald was awarded the fourth Emmy nomination in recognition of her role in HBO's special film of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in 2016. The Bite is a drama with six episodes based on the pandemic that was co-produced through Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. She appeared in the show with Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. Having first appeared as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in the year 2009 on CBS's legal show The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald took on her role (now named Liz Reddick) as a season-long regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ getting three Critics Choice Award nominations for her role. She guest stars on Julian Fellowes historical drama The Gilded Age.
